My Best Of 2018 Family Photography

Wow, what a year last year was. SO. MANY. BABIES. It was very touching to photograph so many past wedding couples’ newborns, it’s the best feeling being invited back to capture the next chapter of peoples’ lives, as well as the second or even third child of my previous family shoots. So 2018 was a year full of love, and little ones. I had quite a busy compacted wedding season which meant I only had space for weekday shoots, I try and advise people if you’d like a weekend shoot with your older children, it’s best to get in touch at least 6-8 weeks in advance, as Saturdays get booked up quite quickly!

I did around 20 family shoots last year, and I had the loveliest time looking back through all the images I took!  It was a fair few thousand, and it’s always a challenge to choose the ones I love the most. I find that most professional photographers will capture lovely images of children and family looking at the camera and those typical ‘framed images for the grandparents’ so I have tried to narrow down this post to ones that really made me feel something. All I care about when I’m photographing families is trying to capture the little ones’ character and spirit. Children are so blissfully unaware for the most part of how they behave and act, all their darling little quirks and looks. Their cheeky ways and their loving glances towards their new siblings always amaze me. Another thing I ADORE being able to shoot is the parents! They spend so much time snapping pics on their phones, that they are hardly ever in any images with their babies. This is what makes my job so precious, usually visiting newborns around 7 days old, knowing in just a few short weeks they will have grown so much, and change so much! I will always treasure the ability I have to do this for a living. Here are my favourite lifestyle, family and newborn images from 2018. Bring on 2019 and all the babies I am so excited to meet! <3 xxx
